Seamus Campbell has recently joined CMD as a Commercial Estimating Manager and comes to us with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the construction industry to ensure the timely production of bids and close client liaison.
We are delighted to have Seamus on the CMD team and are excited for what he will bring to the role and to CMD collectively. We caught up with Seamus to find out a bit more about him:
Tell us a bit more about your career and education to date?
Once I completed university, I obtained positions with various large contractors in the South East region of England. Specialising within the “special works” sectors of the industry on listed and heritage projects, in addition to several commercial schemes.
More recently I’ve worked with several Tier 1 contractors on major projects throughout the British Isles, participating in a variety of schemes ranging up to £180m across an array of sectors.
What is the most important thing you have learned in your previous roles?
Working within the modern-day construction environment offers a range of various different elements that there’s never a day goes past where I don’t learn something new.
What has been your career highlight to date?
There have been so many highlights in my career to date. However, if I was to choose one it would be having the opportunity of working with so many people and witnessing first-hand the evolution of the construction industry over the last 40 years, from the pre-computerised age to the modern technology era we now appreciate.
Do you have any hobbies or interests?
I am an avid SCUBA diver and I’m most happiest when immersed in water with my camera capturing the delights of our submerged environment. I’m passionate about travelling and have been fortunate to have experienced many destinations both at home and abroad.
If I was to coin a quote, it would be the words of Captain Jack Sparrow “Now bring me that horizon”.
Tell us how you plan to help CMD grow and develop?
With over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, combined with my knowledge of estimating and other construction software, I intend to expand and develop CMD by successfully tendering & securing projects leading to increased turnover.
Are you excited about the role?
I see this as an opportunity to be within a company that is still in its early years but has an enthusiastic and passionate team that will pursue growth.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Treat every day as an adventure from the moment you get out of bed, you’ve no idea who you’re going to meet or where you’re going to end up. Remember there’s nothing bad, it’s just a different type of beautiful.
