Tell us a bit more about your career and education to date?

Having worked in sales for many years a change in circumstances and a helping hand from my now wife, I returned to education to pursue a new and exciting career in construction. Enrolling at the local college, I completed a HND in Construction and the Built Environment, gaining a Distinction.

To further enhance my industry and academic knowledge, I attended University of Ulster and received a BSc Construction and Engineering with a First Class Honours. I have worked as a Quantity Surveyor for industry leading contractors across UK and Ireland and a specialist subcontractor in Mechanical Electrical.

What is the most important thing you have learned in your previous roles?

The education I have experienced has given me a solid foundation for my job role as a Quantity Surveyor. Although, I truly learnt the craft while working on the job which has engaged and strengthened my interest in the construction industry.

What has been your career highlight to date?

My highlight to date has been having the opportunity to work in the industry across a wide range of projects, allowing me to add value not only for previous employers but also for clients.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

As a father of three girls time for myself is limited but I do try to exercise and play a little golf with friends. I also have a keen interest in classic cars, DIY, rugby and football. As a New Year’s resolution, I am also keen to gain new skills and have enrolled onto a wood carving course to learn something new!

Tell us how you plan to help CMD grow and develop?

With my years’ of commercial experience and knowledge, I aim to increase the support of the commercial team through recruitment, allowing future growth and management of risk for CMD.

Are you excited about the role?

I am extremely happy to be joining CMD at this exciting time of growth and for the opportunity to increase my knowledge and experience, working within different sectors of the construction industry.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I have experienced a lot in my life so far and the advice I would give to my younger self is ‘life is short, live it to the best of your capabilities even when you’re dealt a bad hand.’
